Discover the UK with HR Owen, one unforgettable road at a time; find out more about our tours to Scotland and the West Country below...
Building on the success of last year’s West Country tours, we’ve expanded our adventures for this year, introducing exciting new tours to the Scottish Highlands alongside a refreshed format for our West Country experiences. These 2 and 3-night tours offer our clients the perfect opportunity to enjoy their Ferraris on the open road, in the company of a small group of friends, both old and new, with an HR Owen host guiding the way.
If you’ve ever dreamt of experiencing the breathtaking beauty of the Highlands, this tour is a must. The roads and scenery are simply mesmerising, with our route covering some of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks, including Glencoe (famous for the finale of James Bond’s Skyfall), Loch Ness, and the Cairngorms.
The adventure begins on the shores of Loch Lomond at Cameron House. This stunning location is the perfect starting point for our Scottish journey, serving as a gateway to both the west coast and the Highlands. After a scenic lunch overlooking a waterfall at a traditional Highland pub, the group heads north-east into the Cairngorms National Park. The route takes them past rugged mountains and through ancient glens on mostly deserted roads. The second night is spent at the Fife Arms, a hotel quickly earning a reputation as Scotland’s finest.
The following day offers unforgettable driving as the group embarks on an anticlockwise loop through the Highlands, passing Balmoral Castle, the Aviemore ski center, Ben Nevis, and along the shores of Loch Ness, before returning for a second night at the Fife Arms. The final half-day drive takes them back through the southern Highlands to Loch Lomond.
Meanwhile, down south, we’ve launched a new West Country Tour for 2024. The tour begins at The Newt in Somerset, a world-renowned country house hotel with one of the UK’s finest gardens. From there, the route winds through the picturesque Dorset and Somerset countryside, leading to our weekend retreat, Bovey Castle on Dartmoor.
The second day involves driving through Dartmoor, a vast landscape of granite tors and heather-clad hills stretching from Exeter to Plymouth. Beyond Dartmoor, the Devon countryside is a patchwork of lush fields, ancient woodlands, and timeless villages. After a lunch stop near Tavistock, the group continues southeast towards Dartmouth before heading back north to Bovey Castle, where there’s ample time to relax. Guests can enjoy the hotel’s pool and spa or participate in a sloe gin-making masterclass before evening drinks.
The tour’s final day features more spectacular driving as the group heads east, passing Exeter and into Dorset, down to the coast past Lyme Regis and West Bay. The tour concludes with a final lunch at Pythouse Garden Café, a charming restaurant set within an 18th-century walled kitchen garden, offering the perfect end to a magical West Country weekend.
